I know we're all busy. I do. I get it. And our work, appointments, commitments, workouts, errands - and all the rest - do have to get done, of course. Still, I just hope you're self care is somewhere high on that list, friend!
Yesterday I had a few dozen things I "needed to get done". But, it was my day off. And though I wanted so badly to try to cram a bunch of those things in to my afternoon and be able to have that relief of knowing those boxes are checked - I changed course, and made space. And after doing the two things that were not reschedulable, I plopped down on my couch with my dogs, my lunch, myremote - and a fluffy pillow! I turned my phone all the way down, and lounged like a beast. I actually fell asleep while watching a romcom, and it felt absolutely wonderful!
Sometimes my self care looks like going to bed a little earlier. Sometimes it looks like turning every thing off and feeling the silence unfold around me. It doesn't really matter whether it's a massage, a yoga class, a walk, or curling up with a good book - whatever. Just please - I beg you - try to peel off of your mind that lie of pressure that so easily gets stuck on our brains - that makes us feel like we "have" to be productive every minute of the day! We do not! Sometimes the dishes, or the laundry, or that errand, or whatever - are just not nearly as important as your sanity. Your peace. Your ability to move through life slowly enough to still be able to smile, and enjoy the small moments of pleasure. You, and your beautiful heart - are much more enjoyable to be around - when you're pausing to breathe, and laugh, and rest! Trust me, because I am, as well. Let's keep our real priorities, priorities. And let some of the other things just go. Or, at least....wait until another day. :D
